Community Partnerships

To date there are more than 3,500 commercial and industrial businesses and services in the City. In the 1990s, the Mackinac Center for Public Policy named Sterling Heights "Michigan's Top Growth City" because of the City's low poverty rate, steady population growth, active job growth and rising per capita income. In the new century, remarkable growth continues in our residential and commercial communities.

The transportation system within the City and the surrounding area has supported growth. Major freeways including I-75, I-94, I-696 and M-59 are easily accessible. Sterling Heights businesses have access to 45 motor freight lines, Conrail, Detroit Metropolitan and Detroit City airports and the international waterways of the Great Lakes.

The City Development Department is pleased to assist businesses looking to expand or relocate their business to Sterling Heights. Incentives and brownfield opportunities await interested businesses and developers.
