Notice of Public Hearing on Grant Assisted Land Conversion in Puffin Park and Availability of Draft Land Conversion Plan for Review
Notice is hereby given that the City of Sterling Heights City Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. within City Council Chambers, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI, 48313 to receive comments relating to the partial conversion and mitigation of grant assisted land to a public road inside Puffin Park, 34601 Viceroy Drive, Sterling Heights, Michigan, 48310.
In 1972, Puffin Park was developed with funding from the Land & Water Conservation Fund, which is federally administered by the National Park Service and locally administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. When converting a portion or all of grant assisted property to a use other than as originally intended when grant funds were received, the National Park Service and Michigan Department of Natural Resources require public input on the proposed changes to the grant assisted property and the proposed mitigation property.
A copy of the draft conversion plan is available for public review and can be downloaded at www.sterlingheights.gov. A hard copy is also available for public inspection at the Parks & Recreation Department Offices, located in the Community Center at 40250 Dodge Park Road, Sterling Heights, MI, 48313. Any comments on the draft plan can be submitted by mail to the Parks and Recreation Department at the address above, or by e-mail to recreation@sterling-heights.net.
