[ARCHIVED] City of Sterling Heights Weather Updates as of 1/13

latest updates

The City of Sterling Heights is dedicated to keeping our residents and community members safe and updated 365 days a year!

To stay updated on the most up-to-date information, we ask that you tap in to one or all of our many outlets such as social media, eNewsletters, or text alerts, that allow us the opportunity to connect with you and share! Connect with us here!

Update from DPW

The Department of Public Works is continuing to work around the clock until all neighborhoods have been plowed curb to curb and salted. At this time, half of our City sections of roads have been completed, and we will continue to provide updates from DPW regarding the status of our city streets.

With the high winds and expected temperature drop, we would also like residents to be aware that the salt distributed on roads will lose its effect due to the cold. DPW will make sure that roads will remain plowed and passable, but please take extra caution when driving as roadways may be slippery.

Stay Warm: Extended Facility Hours

We know that select areas and homes of the city are currently without power, and we want to make sure you stay safe and warm until it is restored.

Many of our city facilities are open today and can provide warmth and entertainment during our business hours.

(40250 Dodge Park Rd.)

Sterling Heights Public Library

(40255 Dodge Park Rd.)

9 - 5 p.m.

Senior Center

(40200 Utica Rd.)

9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

A list of local warming shelters can be found on the Macomb County website.

Should a mass power outage occur and the need for warming centers arises, several City and community partner buildings may open to residents. The City will provide additional information regarding which buildings will be open on all its communication channels.

* Extended hours for 1/13.

Please Note

The city of Sterling Heights has not declared a snow emergency at this time, but the Department of Public Works is prepared to clear the way for our residents!

Also important to remember, per city ordinance, residents must have their sidewalks cleared of snow within 24 hours from the end of snowfall. OnDemand snow removal services can also be found on our website.

With the help of our community, no snow emergency is too difficult for the DPW to clean up.
