[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights Offers Trial Homeowner Inspection Program

Inspections

The City of Sterling Heights is launching a trial Homeowner Convenience Inspection (HCI) program to make inspections easier for residents. For a limited time, inspections will be available during two daily windows: 7:30–8:30 a.m. and 3:30–4:30 p.m.

The program covers:

  • Furnace and air conditioning replacements

  • Water heater replacement

  • Electrical services

Homeowners must schedule inspections online at least seven days in advance, selecting “HCI” as the inspection type. After scheduling, residents should contact the appropriate inspector directly:

  • Plumbing: 586-446-2355

  • Electrical: 586-446-2379 or 586-446-2381

  • Mechanical: 586-446-2363 or 586-446-2379

For furnace or air conditioner reconnects, an HCI should be scheduled for both electrical and mechanical inspections. Homeowners need only contact one inspector and note that both inspections are scheduled.

If an inspector is unavailable on the chosen date, a new date will be arranged directly with the homeowner. Please call our City Development department at 586-446-2360 with any questions or concerns regarding this program.
