[ARCHIVED] City of Sterling Heights Invites Local Veterans and Residents to Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Veterans Day 2025

The City of Sterling Heights invites veterans, their families, and community members to join the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at 11 a.m.  Those who wish to express their appreciation to these brave men and women are also encouraged to attend. The ceremony, held at the Sterling Heights Senior Center located at 40200 Utica Road, will offer a chance for the community to come together in tribute to the bravery and dedication of Sterling Heights veterans.

41-A District Court Chief Judge Stephen Sierawski will emcee the annual ceremony which includes remarks from local veterans, Sterling Heights Mayor Pro Tem Liz Sierawski and keynote speaker Sgt. Jassin Hakim from the Sterling Heights Police Department. The ceremony will also feature the national anthem sung by Sterling Heights resident Deanna Love and a 21-gun salute by the Sterling Heights Police and Fire Honor Guard. In addition, the city is partnering this year with Heat 4 Heroes, a local nonprofit on a mission to provide free heating, cooling and air quality services to veterans, firefighters and police officers in need. Founded in March 2025, the organization ensures that those who have served and protected others can live safely and comfortably in their own homes.

“Our mission is simple but powerful,” said Michael Kosmalski, Founder of Heat 4 Heroes and owner of Koz Heating & Cooling. “We want to give back to the men and women who have spent their lives protecting us. No veteran or first responder should have to live without heat in the winter or cool air in the summer.”

“We gather each Veterans Day to honor those who have selflessly defended our country’s freedom,” said Mayor Pro Tem Sierawski. “Sterling Heights remains committed to ensuring our veterans are not only remembered and appreciated, but also cared for, and this partnership with Heat 4 Heroes will help our community achieve that goal.”

Community members can support Heat 4 Heroes through donations at the event, volunteer efforts or by making referrals for veterans and first responders in need. To learn more, donate or apply for service, visit heatforheroes.info or email heatforheroes@gmail.com.

The Sterling Heights Veterans Day Ceremony is planned in conjunction with local area veterans. This year’s event includes free coffee donated by Scooter’s Coffee and pizza, salad and beverages donated by Utica/Van Dyke Towing.
