Cabin Fever - Adaptive Recreation Dance

Calling all lumberjacks and jills — it’s time to break out your plaid and sharpen those dance moves. Shake off the winter blues at our Cabin Fever Dance. Two slices of pizza and a beverage will be served to all participants. The registration fee for accompanying staff, parents, and caregivers is $6 and includes food and dancing.
Whiskers in Watercolor - Artist Inside

Discover your inner artist while learning new techniques and designs. Each class offers a new project, allowing participants to create a masterpiece to take home. These guided art classes require no prior experience and are open to all ages and abilities. Fees include supplies, instruction, and themed treats.
Prep Like a Pro - Tailgate Treats

Get ready to cook like a true MVP! This Tailgate Treats prep class will be your playbook for easy crowd-pleasers so you're ready for game day. Whether you're a rookie or a seasoned pro, this class will help you level up your snack game. Main ingredients will be provided; you’ll just need to add your choice of protein, if needed, at home.
This program guides chefs of all experience levels through the basics of food preparation. Build your independence while gaining valuable knowledge for both in and out of the kitchen, including knife safety, motor skills, problem-solving skills, confidence, and more.

Thursday nights are brewing once again on Dodge Park Road. Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation is bringing you music on select Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. through the Sterling Coffeehouse series taking place inside the Community Center.
Enjoy our first two performances of the season featuring Rhythm Society Orchestra (Big Band) on Jan. 15 and an acoustic performance from Maria Rose on Jan. 22 (free show!).
Zap Zone - Teen Night Out

Snowflake Sensory Lab

Step into a winter wonderland of sensory stations! Explore snow slime, ice cube painting, and fuzzy snowflake building. This hands-on program engages sight, touch, and sound for a magical winter experience for children ages 3-5.
Frosty Fun Science Lab

Experiment with “instant snow,” icy volcanoes, and melting challenges in this hands-on winter science class. Kids (ages 6-8) will explore chemistry and physics while creating fun, winter-themed projects. Participants should wear clothing that can get dirty.
Snow Story Stroll

Follow a charming illustrated story along winter trails with interactive stops for matching animal tracks and spotting “snow critters.” Perfect for all ages and makes a cozy family outdoor activity.
Senior Center
AVERT Training

AVERT, which stands for Active Violence Emergency Response Training, is a program designed to teach civilians how to survive active violence situations. Developed by experts in law enforcement, security, and medicine, it goes beyond traditional “run, hide, fight” training by also covering how to evade, escape, and attack, as well as how to provide emergency bleeding control techniques such as applying pressure or tourniquets. This program is brought to the Senior Center by Community First Responders.

DIA Behind the Seen

“Behind the Seen” is presented by trained DIA volunteers and brings the same level of insight and engagement about the DIA’s collection from the museum to the Senior Center. This month’s theme is “Cows at the Opera House & Other Museum Mysteries.” A mystery is defined as something unexplained or inexplicable, or as a person or thing with qualities that spark curiosity or speculation. The many mysteries of the DIA include stories and images, newly discovered meanings, and questions of authenticity. Join us to learn about these mysteries and more.
