[ARCHIVED] Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer Appoints Frank Bayer to State Construction Code Commission

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently appointed Sterling Heights Building Plan Review Coordinator Frank Bayer to the State Construction Code Commission to represent municipal building inspectors through January 31, 2023.

Bayer has worked with the City of Sterling Heights since 2013 and oversees plan reviews for construction projects for the City of Sterling Heights.

Prior to being hired by the City of Sterling Heights, Bayer served as an inspector for the City of Detroit for 16 years. He had the opportunity to work on many projects, including the MGM Grand Casino, GM headquarter renovations at the Renaissance Center, Fort Shelby Hotel renovations, as well as the new Public Safety headquarters.

“I feel fortunate that Frank has become a member of our team. He brings with him a vast amount of knowledge and experience, along with ICC Certifications, which are nationally recognized certifications,” said Building Official Michael Viazanko.

In addition to his appointment to the State Construction Code Commission, Bayer has been asked and accepted to fill a vacancy on the State Barrier Free Board. These boards meet quarterly for individuals seeking variances to state adopted codes throughout State of Michigan.

“We are grateful to have employees serving the Sterling Heights community who are continuously working to build a stronger and brighter future for not only our city, but for our state as well,” said Sterling Heights City Manager Mark Vanderpool.
