[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights Cultural Exchange: Friday, March 6

A much-anticipated event celebrating the City of Sterling Heights’ many cultures will be held Friday, March 6, 2020. Sterling Heights and its Ethnic Community Committee will hold its annual Cultural Exchange, from 6-10 p.m. in the new Community Center.

The Sterling Heights Community Center is located at 40250 Dodge Park Road. The public is encouraged to attend this free event.

The 2020 Cultural Exchange will feature a wide array of ethnic music and dance, cuisine from over 25 city restaurateurs and over 50 educational tables and cultural displays from area groups and retailers. Cultures represented will include African-American, Albanian, Assyrian, Bulgarian, Chaldean, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Iraqi, Irish, Islamic, Japan, Polish, Romanian, Scottish, Thai and many more. A minimum donation of $1 is suggested.  Last year’s event drew nearly 1,000 people. A free shuttle will be provided from the Court and City Hall to the Community Center for Cultural Exchange attendees.

“The evening is really a great chance for people of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds to celebrate their similarities more than their differences,” said Willie Dechavez, chairman of the Ethnic Community Committee. “We are looking forward to participation from all the different nationalities in Sterling Heights and surrounding areas.”
