During the COVID-19 outbreak, the City of Sterling Heights is actively supporting our community at large, including the important members of our business community.
We recognize the hundreds of small businesses that are the backbone of our community, providing important goods and services that keep our economy – and our residents – thriving.
The City has prepared a comprehensive list of resources for both employers and their employees, and will continue to do everything possible to ensure tools are made available from the state and federal government to protect businesses and their employees from any economic impact resulting from the COVID-19 public health crisis.
“During these unprecedented times, we have to do as much as we can to create awareness of these resources, “said Sterling Heights Senior Economic Development Advisor Luke Bonner. “The impacts are already significant, and our hope is that the proactive use of resources can mitigate as much loss as possible.”
The state of Michigan’s small business entrepreneurial support organizations have joined forces with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to ensure economic support is available to Michigan businesses to overcome anticipated loss of revenue as a result of the COVID-19 virus.
“We understand the pressure all companies, large and small, are now under as a result of a statewide quarantine effort. Our businesses are our lifeblood, and without them our City would not be as rich and vibrant,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor. “We strongly stand with our partners from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as they work to provide access to many state and federal financial resources.”
The City’s list of business resources can be found by visiting www.sterling-heights.net/businessresources. The tool kit includes funding resources, a how-to guide for telecommuting, and general tips for weathering this crisis. The city of Sterling Heights will continue to update and promote the list of resources with new programs, tools, and additional information as it becomes available.
