Sterling Heights Police in coordination with Utica PD, Shelby Twp PD, Clinton Twp PD and Macomb County Sheriff's Dept will be stepping up traffic enforcement along M59/Hall Road for the month of October.

An increase in complaints of aggressive/distracted driving, speeding and disregarding traffic signals along with road construction and increased holiday traffic have inspired the joint effort to keep the motoring public safe.

For two weeks prior to the enforcement detail participating agencies will place radar trailers and signage to help curb aggressive habits. Officers will then have an increased presence throughout the month of October utilizing numerous resources to enforce traffic laws.

The effort is focused on education and enforcement to increase public safety. Drivers are asked to always obey traffic laws, but that becomes even more important when construction and high volume traffic can increase frustration. "It's important to remember no driver's injury or death is worth being impatient" Lt. David Smith
