[ARCHIVED] Registration now open for virtual SterlingFAST 5K

The City of Sterling Heights will continue with the annual tradition of their SterlingFAST 5K. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 SterlingFAST 5K will not be at Dodge Park.

This year, SterlingFAST 5k will be a virtual event allowing participants of all ages to register online and run or walk in a safe location they choose, whether it be on a treadmill at home or outdoors along their favorite route.

The official race day is Saturday, July 25, but participants will be able to post their results to the leaderboard until 7 pm on Sunday, July 26 and print a certificate of participation. Photos can be posted to the event’s Facebook page, and those who post photos will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a Hanson’s Running Shop gift card. Gift cards will be mailed to two winners.

The cost of the race is $20 for students (19 and under) and $25 for adults. Shirt sizes are guaranteed to those registered by July 15; however, shirt size availability will be limited to anyone registering after this date.
Each participant will receive a medal and a SterlingFAST 2020 t-shirt. Packet pickup will take place at Hanson’s Running Shop (8409 Hall Road, Utica, MI  48317) on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24 from noon to 7 pm.

Participants will also have the option to make a small donation to the Daryl Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Daryl Brown was a retired Sterling Police Officer, a coach at St. Anne’s and Regina, as well as a longtime runner. Proceeds from this event will be used to improve and maintain the Clinton River Bike Path Trail System.
