[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights City Clerk extends Election Center hours of service

In an effort to ensure all Sterling Heights voters have the opportunity to vote in the 2020 Presidential Election, beginning today the Sterling Heights City Clerk’s Office is offering extended hours at the City’s Election Center.

The Election Center is located at the Senior Center’s south entrance at 40200 Utica Rd.

Now through the Nov. 3 election, Election Center hours will be:

  •  Monday, 9am – 5pm
  • Tuesday, 9am – 7pm
  • Wednesday, 9am – 5pm
  • Thursday, 9am – 7pm
  • Friday, 9am – 5pm
  • Saturday, 10am – 2pm

The Election Center will be open additional hours on Saturday, October 31 from 9am – 5pm.

“We are receiving about 60-70 voter registrations per day, and we’ve already issued more than 35,000 Absent Voter ballots in Sterling Heights,” said Sterling Heights City Clerk Melanie Ryska. “It’s clear that we will have unprecedented voter participation in this year’s election, and it’s our duty to make sure every resident has the opportunity to participate in the democratic process. We take that responsibility seriously, so it makes sense to extend our service hours in the last few weeks leading up to the election in order to accommodate residents who wish to exercise their right to vote.”

Voters are able to visit the Election Center to register to vote, apply for and obtain an absent voter ballot, and drop off their ballot. For more information please contact the Election Center at vote@sterling-heights.net or call 586.446.2420.
