The City of Sterling Heights is pleased to welcome the Detroit Institute of Art’s DIA Away exhibition for public viewing on the City’s campus on Thursday, Oct. 8 to coincide with the Dodge Park Farmers Market.

The DIA Away exhibit, “Think Like an Artist,” is a free, mobile interactive experience for people of all ages. Inside DIA Away, participants can discover some of the ways artists think and have the opportunity to try out creative thinking skills at digital and hands-on stations. According to the DIA, visitors will be surprised and inspired to discover the connections between themselves and the ways artists think and work.

The traveling trailer will be located in the Dodge Park parking lot and open to the public from 2 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 8. Parking will be available at Dodge Park, City Hall, the Library and the 41A District Court lots. In October, the Dodge Park Farmers Market runs from 3 to 7 p.m.

“Supporting and celebrating art is so important to the City of Sterling Heights; this is an excellent way for our community to take advantage of the DIA’s wonderful art opportunities without traveling far from home,” said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “I hope our residents will check out the exhibit before or after a stop to the farmer’s market. This is another great example of the community gathering opportunities we’re creating for Sterling Heights residents.”
