[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights African American Coalition hosts Juneteenth Celebration this Friday, June 17

The Sterling Heights African American Coalition will host a much-anticipated Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 17 from 5-9 p.m. at the Dodge Park Farmers Market Pavilion, 40620 Utica Road. The public is encouraged to attend this free event.

The 2022 Juneteenth Celebration will feature 20 educational tables and displays from area businesses, groups, organizations as well as entertainment including live music, a DJ, a special Juneteenth poetry reading, dance performance, a martial arts demonstration and more. Food will be available for purchase from JJ’s Fish and Shrimp as well as Serving Time Food and Catering, plus desserts from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Overflow parking will be available next door at the Sterling Heights Senior Center.

“We are looking forward to celebrating this important holiday and bringing it to the city of Sterling Heights,” said AeYanna Yett, chairperson for the Sterling Heights African American Coalition Steering Committee. “We have a vision of creating a community where African Americans belong, guided by core values of equity, inclusion, representation, education and accountability. We hope this event will help highlight that sense of belonging for all African American residents in Sterling Heights.”
