[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights to Honor Tuskegee Airmen and Other American Heroes at Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Sterling Heights and its Arts Commission are making preparations for the 44th Annual Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 29, 2023.

The parade theme is "Victory through Unity" and will feature an exciting, first-ever Tuskegee Airmen Flyover using authentic WWII Tuskegee airplanes. This year’s Grand Marshal will be U.S. Army Veteran and current Vice President of the National Museum of the Tuskegee Airmen Larry Sargent.

The Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade is one of the City’s great events for residents and visitors to experience. Tens of thousands of spectators line the parade route each year to watch 100 or more marching bands, scout troops, civic groups and individuals march in the parade.

Applications for participation in the parade are now available on the City’s website, sterling-heights.net

Memorial Day activities begin promptly at 9 a.m. in the City Center Courtyard as hundreds gather for a solemn tribute to all veterans who died in the line of duty. At 10 a.m., the parade kicks off and proceeds south on Dodge Park Road to Metropolitan Parkway, ending at Heritage Jr. High.
