[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights invites local veterans, residents to annual Veterans Day Ceremony

All local veterans and citizens are invited to attend the City of Sterling Heights Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Sterling Heights Recreation Center located at 40620 Utica Road, across from City Hall.

All local veterans and citizens are invited to attend the City of Sterling Heights Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Sterling Heights Recreation Center located at 40620 Utica Road, across from City Hall.

The ceremony includes remarks from veterans, patriotic music from the Stevenson High School Choir and Henry Ford II High School Band, a 21-gun salute by the Sterling Heights Police Honor Guard, presentation of colors by the Sterling Heights Fire Department and the symbolic laying of wreaths. This year’s keynote speaker is John Robert Todd, who served in the Vietnam War as an Army Officer and Attack Pilot. He is the recipient of a Distinguished Flying Cross for valor, 17 Combat Air Medals, the Cross of Gallantry with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart Award.

The ceremony is planned by local area veterans groups with the assistance of the City of Sterling Heights and the Sterling Heights Community Foundation. Event sponsors include Utica Van Dyke Towing and Sam's Club.
