Sterling Heights Launches New WaterSmart Website

$60 annual credit for paperless billing and automatic water bill payments also announced.

The city of Sterling Heights is proud to announce the launch of its new WaterSmart website designed to help residents save money and conserve water by easily managing their household water bill online via desktop or smartphone.

WaterSmart offers educational resources like water-saving tips that can be customized for a household profile as well as a number of interactive tools and features to help residents monitor and manage their water use. The site includes a water usage tracker, which allows residents to monitor their water usage down to the hour as well as compare it to their past consumption. Additionally, the site features a tool which enables residents to compare their use to community averages.

Best of all, WaterSmart allows residents to detect leaks and potential problems early with emergency notifications. Additional emergency notifications offered through WaterSmart include water outage reports and boil water advisories.

“WaterSmart is part of our ongoing commitment to keep costs low while providing world-class services and an exceptional quality of life for our residents,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor. "Water is a precious resource, and we all have a responsibility to use it wisely. We hope WaterSmart will inspire our residents to not only save money by catching leaks early, but also take action to manage their water use to create a sustainable future for our community and our planet.”

In addition to WaterSmart, the City has also rolled out a program that will save residents $60 annually by signing up for paperless billing and automatic payments. Once a resident has signed up for both, a $5 credit will appear on each of their monthly water bills beginning May 1, 2023.

The WaterSmart website is now live and available to all Sterling Heights residents. To sign up for a free account, visit sterlingheightsmi.watersmart.com. Residents can sign up for paperless billing and automatic payments by visiting sterling-heights.net/waterbill and following the enrollment instructions provided.
