[ARCHIVED] Media Invited to Attend Rollout for New Sterling Heights Sustainability Initiatives

City Council and Beautification Commission plant tree for Arbor Day as part of celebration.

Who: Sterling Heights Mayor and City Council, City Manager Mark Vanderpool, Sterling Heights Sustainability Commissioners, Sterling Heights Beautification Commissioners, regional/state/federal elected officials, and community leaders and esteemed guests.

What: Tree planting in recognition of the upcoming Arbor and Earth Days followed by a media announcement to unveil Think Sterling Green, a new umbrella brand for multiple sustainability initiatives in Sterling Heights, including two brand new projects for residents: an exciting grant program for residential clean energy improvement projects and a free rain barrel program.

NOTE: The tree planting, along with presence of renewable energy items like a rain barrel a solar panel and a heat pump provide a great photo and/or video opportunity.

Why: To showcase the vital work Sterling Heights is doing toward creating a sustainable and resilient community and preserving the environment for future generations.

When: Monday, April 17 at 5:45 p.m.
 
Where: Tree planting will take place outside on the north side of the Sterling Heights Senior Center, 40200 Utica Road, Sterling Heights. The media announcement will immediately follow inside the Senior Center.
