Schools out for the summer! The long awaited summer break is finally here, and we have some exciting activities lined up for you. There are so many great ways to enjoy your summer right here in Sterling Heights. Whether you’re looking to get active outside, or cool off indoors, we have just the place for you and your friends!

 1. Skate Park

Located right next to the Public Library on Dodge Park Road is the Sterling Heights Skate Park. This park is open from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. during the summer. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or just want to try something new, our park caters to all levels. Grab your board and head on over while the sun is shining!

 2. Sand Volleyball

Throughout Sterling Heights, you will find some amazing sand volleyball courts located at Dodge, Nelson, Farmstead, and Imus Parks. Feel the sand between your toes on a nice summer day or a warm summer evening. This is a perfect way to gather with some friends and stay active.

 3. Live Music Entertainment

If you love live music, you should definitely see an outdoor concert at Freedom Hill this summer. Freedom Hill Amphitheatre is conveniently located on Metro Parkway near Utica Road, and you’re not going to want to miss out on the chance to see your favorite artists perform!  4. Play Pickleball

Also located throughout Sterling Heights are our pickleball courts at Avis, College, Hampton and Magnolia Park!  5. Creativity at the Community Center

If you’re looking to cool off indoors, there are so many options for fun indoor activities in Sterling Heights this summer. Continue to grow your creative talents throughout the summer and learn new creative techniques with art classes for teens at the Community Center. Each class offers a new theme allowing artists a chance to create a new masterpiece to take home. Classes run July 12 - August 2, and you can register online at myshpr.net/register.

 6. Adrenaline Park

For an exhilarating rush, don’t miss out on the Full Throttle Adrenaline Park experience. Located on 19 Mile and Van Dyke, Full Throttle is full of adrenaline-based activities for both solo adventure and unforgettable group experiences. Try out high-speed go-karting, axe throwing, rage rooms and virtual reality. Unleash your thrill this summer with this electrifying experience!

 7. Check out the Library

In search of a more relaxed and laid-back afternoon? Look no further! The Sterling Heights Public Library shows a new teen movie every month on a large screen with popcorn. Teens ages 13 to 17 can look forward to a fun afternoon on July 12 and Aug. 9 this summer. While you’re there, don’t forget to ask about other teen activities such as the Maker Space Lab and Workshop, Teen Book Box, and more!

 8. Teen Yoga Classes

Ignite your inner “zen” with Teen Yoga classes. Located in the dance studio at the Community Center, this yoga class will teach you relaxation methods, breathing techniques and creative expression through movement. These techniques can be incorporated in your everyday life with helping to increase concentration, coordination and an overall well-being. Register online at myshpr.net/register.
