Jane Austen Role Playing Game

Calling all Jane Austen fans! We will be hosting a special session of "Good Society: A Jane Austen Roleplaying Game" at the Upton House Museum. Collaborate with other regency novel enthusiasts to act out your own Jane Austen story. With a flexible easy to understand ruleset, fans with any level of experience with tabletop roleplaying games, from complete beginner to seasoned expert, are welcome to attend. Just bring your love of Austen characters and a pen and paper!
Grave Stone Cleaning

The Sterling Heights Historical Commission will again offer a Saturday morning class on Gravestone Cleaning at Historic Sterling Grove Cemetery. Participants are limited to 20 and will work in teams. Proper cleaning techniques and product use will be demonstrated. Participants will actually clean historic markers as they learn correct cleaning methods which, once learned, may also be applied for use on personal family stones. Details and directions will be given upon registration.

Join retired U.S. District Chief Judge Gerald Rosen and author of the new book, "Grand Bargain: The Inside Story of Detroit's Dramatic Journey from Bankruptcy to Rebirth," as he recounts his involvement as the chief mediator in the largest municipal bankruptcy in American history, and as the architect of the "Grand Bargain" that saved Detroit from the blink of oblivion and prevented priceless artwork at the DIA from being auctioned off to satisfy the city's creditors. Bear Cub Book Club

Boost reading skills with support from high school mentors! 3rd to 5th graders will practice reading out loud in a fun, supportive setting. The program kicks off with high schoolers reading a short story to the group, followed by a discussion to help everyone engage with the text. Students will be grouped with their peers and a high school mentor to practice reading.
