Building Closures

The Sterling Heights Public Library will be closed Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 for Labor Day weekend. 

Upton House

Connect with Sterling Heights' past with photos, displays and more at the Upton House Museum. Tours will be available from 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 14. No registration required.

Family Movie Matinee

Calling all little bingo players! You are invited to join us for a fun game of Lego-themed bingo! Adults and children can play to win prizes! Please register child's name only, to be accompanied by one or two grownups.

Gravestone Cleaning Workshop

Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. - noon. Register online.

The Sterling Heights Historical Commission will again offer a Saturday morning class on Gravestone Cleaning at Historic Sterling Grove Cemetery (42485 Saal Road). Participants are limited to 20 and will work in teams. Proper cleaning techniques and product use will be demonstrated. Participants will actually clean historic markers as they learn correct cleaning methods which, once learned, may also be applied for use on personal family stones. Attendees must have transportation to the following cemetery, and there is limited parking available.

Makers Gonna Make

Marketing Made Simple: A Practical Approach

Join Business Development and Digital Marketing Specialist Christen Jones as she leads this workshop designed to help small business owners, budding professionals, or anyone who wants to learn actionable strategies for building their brand, attracting customers in the right way, and driving growth. Cosplay Group

Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. - noon. Register online.

Whether you're interested in trying cosplay for the first time, or just looking to connect to the community in-person, this cosplay group is a great space to learn all about the craft, meet new people, and work on your own projects. Please bring your own supplies for projects. 

Tweening: A Parent and Tween Night Out

Monday, Aug. 11 from 6-7 p.m. Register online.

Come to the library for an evening out with your tween! This month we will be molding and painting plaster magnets! All the supplies are provided for both parent and tween. Please only register the child's name, to be accompanied by one grown-up.

Anime Club

Thursday, Aug. 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. Register online.

Patrons between the ages of 12 and 18 are invited to visit the library to watch anime with fellow fans! In addition to watching anime, patrons will be able to discuss anime and manga with others, complete a drawing or craft activity, and enjoy some anime-inspired Japanese snacks!

Sensory Friendly Storytime

Saturday, Aug. 16 from 11:30 a.m. - noon. Register online.

This sensory-friendly storytime is designed for children with disabilities and adaptive needs. It includes engaging stories, sensory activities, crafts, and adaptive movements tailored to each child. The program encourages creativity, self-expression and provides a supportive environment for all children to thrive.

Bear Cub Book Club

Monday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Register online.

Boost reading skills with support from high school mentors! 3rd to 5th graders will practice reading out loud in a fun, supportive setting. The program kicks off with high schoolers reading a short story to the group, followed by a discussion to help everyone engage with the text. Students will be grouped with their peers and a high school mentor to practice reading. Please note: Parents or Guardians are required to stay with their elementary schoolers under age 10 during the session.
