[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights Department of Public Works Issues Boil Water Advisory for Denoter Drive Only

Boil Water - Facebook

The City of Sterling Heights has issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for homes on Denoter Drive only following a water main break that caused a temporary loss of water pressure in that area (see map below).

The advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution as this water main break meets the threshold requiring a boil water advisory under state guidelines. No other streets or areas are impacted.

Sterling Heights DPW is currently working on restoring service. Until notified otherwise, impacted residents should not drink their water without boiling it first. Residents may drink bottled water or bring all tap water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food. Residents should continue this practice until the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

Although water service is expected to be restored within a few hours, the Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect for approximately 48 hours (through Friday afternoon, Jan. 30), pending water quality testing, unless testing allows it to be lifted sooner.

Residents with questions may contact the City of Sterling Heights Department of Public Works at 586-446-2440. General information on drinking water safety is available from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791. For instructions and updates, visit: sterlingheights.gov/boilwater

When the water boil advisory is lifted, the City will notify residents via the City website at sterlingheights.gov, social media, SHTV and emergency text/email alerts. If you haven’t yet signed up for the City’s emergency alerts, you may subscribe at sterlingheights.gov/getconnected.
