The City of Sterling Heights is working with Waste Management this spring to offer eight special Neighborhood Cleanup Events in various sections of the city
Additionally, the city will have dumpsters available at the DPW to accept material that can’t be picked up at the curb. The goal of these cleanups is to give residents a chance to clear their yards and garages of unwanted items and to ultimately help beautify the city, said Public Works Director Sal Conigliaro.
These special neighborhood cleanup days, taking place on each Saturday in May, offer residents the opportunity to dispose of trash in a convenient way. The City is asking residents to participate by sprucing up their properties and disposing of trash and debris.
The Neighborhood Cleanup Events in May are meant to compliment the City’s signature spring cleanup event, SHINE (the Sterling Heights Initiative for Neighborhood Excellence). For the SHINE event, groups of dedicated volunteers help organize local neighborhood cleanups in an effort to ensure every parcel of property in the City of Sterling Heights looks its best. This year’s SHINE event will be held the morning of Saturday, May 2.
