Long-time City Attorney Jeff Bahorski has been hired by the City of Sterling Heights as an Assistant City Manager starting June 1, 2016. Mr. Bahorski will also assume the duties of Human Resources Director in 2017.
Long-time City Attorney Jeff Bahorski has been hired by the City of Sterling Heights as an Assistant City Manager starting June 1, 2016. Mr. Bahorski will also assume the duties of Human Resources Director in 2017.
Mr. Bahorski has been employed by the Sterling Heights law firm O’Reilly Rancilio P.C. for the past sixteen years. During his tenure with the firm, Mr. Bahorski has continuously represented Sterling Heights and was first appointed as City Attorney in 2004.
Mr. Bahorski has played an integral role in many of the City’s major initiatives, including the reacquisition of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant by Chrysler Group LLC, the Visioning 2030 strategic planning, and, most recently, the parks and recreation initiative. Mr. Bahorski’s contributions were recognized in 2014 when he was named Administrator of the Year.
In commenting on his new role with the City, Mr. Bahorski notes, “Being the City Attorney for an extended period of time has prepared me well for this new position. I’ve been involved with every office and department of the city and it has given me great insight into the excellent public services being delievered everyday in Sterling Heights.” He adds, “I am most excited about the future direction of the City. The City Council and Administration are laying a solid foundation for the next fifty years of Sterling Heights. I welcome the opportunity to help shape the future for our residents and businesses.”

Mr. Bahorski holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a juris doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He and his wife Maryann have resided in Sterling Heights since 1988 and raised four children.
The City Council will consider the appointment of a new City Attorney from the O’Reilly Rancilio law firm in June 2016.
