International manufacturer Mitchell Plastics (Ultra Manufacturing) has finalized plans to open a new 200,000 square-foot manufacturing facility at Sterling Enterprise Park.
The new facility, which will produce automotive interior parts, will create 122 qualified new jobs in Sterling Heights. This new facility will also help supply new contracts in support of OEM Automotive Customers.
The City of Sterling Heights has been working diligently with Mitchell Plastics to secure their location as the first tenant at Sterling Enterprise Park, a new state-of-the-art industrial park developed at the site of the former Sunnybrook Golf Course and Bowl. The Sterling Heights City Council will consider an application for an Industrial Tax Abatement in support of their investment.
Mitchell Plastics also considered locations in Waterloo, Ontario where it already has a significant production base that could be expanded or Charlestown, Indiana where its current facility has room to support the increased production. Instead, Mitchell Plastics chose Sterling Heights for its newest facility.
"A company of this caliber moving to Sterling Heights speaks volumes about our City and its viability for manufacturers,” said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. "Not only do we offer a strong workforce, but our low taxes and helpful staff at City Hall make Sterling Heights an excellent place to locate a business. We welcome Mitchell Plastics, and as a City, we will continue to work to be attractive to such incredible business investments.”
