[ARCHIVED] Sterling Heights Arts Commission honors Memorial Day Parade's best band and float

The Sterling Heights Art Commission has chosen the best band and the best float from among the record number of entries that made up the 2015 Memorial Day parade.

The commission selected Cub Scout Pack 361's entry as the Best Float and honored the Ecorse Community High School "Mighty Marching Raiders" as this year’s Best Band.

According to the Art Commission, this year’s winners best captured the patriotic theme of the city’s Memorial Day parade.

“Nowhere is the deep history of military service by those who live in Michigan portrayed better than in our parade here in Sterling Heights,” Art Commission Chairman Don Schinzing said. “It’s a privilege for us to honor those who best exemplify our parade in terms of our marching bands and colorful floats.”
