The Sterling Heights Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 118, in cooperation with the Sterling Heights Police Department and Target of Sterling Heights, is hosting the 18th annual “Cops and Kids” holiday program on December 10, 8:30 a.m. at Target on 16 Mile.
Cops and Kids is designed to assist area children and their families during the Christmas holiday. Between 40 and 50 Sterling Heights area children will purchase toys, clothes and gifts for their families.
Santa and Mrs. Clause, along with Santa’s helpers, will be on hand to assist the children. Santa’s helpers will be uniformed Sterling Heights Police Officers and will accompany the children throughout the store. The officers will assist the children with pushing their cart, selecting and wrapping the gifts along with keeping track of the money spent.
This program assists in bringing the community and police department closer together along with providing the kids with some extra cheer during the Christmas season.
