[ARCHIVED] City partners with Motown Museum in Detroit to offer discount to residents

The City of Sterling Heights is partnering with the Motown Museum in Detroit to offer a special discount to Sterling Heights residents to check out this cultural gem only a short drive away.

The Motown Museum is offering discounted e-tickets to Sterling Heights residents beginning on Sunday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 7. When purchasing tickets, Sterling Heights residents should use the code SHMOTOWN for 20% off standard ticket price. Purchasers must use all capital letters when typing in the discount code. The Motown Museum asks that groups of 20 or more should call the Group Tours Coordinator at the Museum to schedule at (313) 875-2264, ext. 229. Group tours will also be discounted 20% off standard ticket price.

The Motown Museum tells the story of how a man’s vision turned into one of the largest, most successful record companies of all time and how the music — the Motown Sound — captured the hearts of young people in America and across the globe. The Motown Museum is located in the original Motown Records establishment founded in 1959 by Berry Gordy. Since the museum’s inception in 1985, it has become one of Southeast Michigan’s most popular tourist destinations. Visitors come from across America and throughout the world to stand in Studio A, where their favorite artists and groups recorded much-loved music.
