[ARCHIVED] Join us June 1 for the Dodge Park Bridge ribbon cutting

Members of the media and residents are invited to join City officials along with representatives from SEMCOG and MDOT to celebrate the re-opening of the new Dodge Park Bridge

Who: Members of the media and residents are invited to join City officials along with representatives from SEMCOG and MDOT to celebrate the re-opening of the new Dodge Park Bridge

When: 5:30 p.m., Thursday, June 1st

Where:  40620 Utica Road, inside Dodge Park

Details:  With help from SEMCOG and MDOT, the City secured a grant for $623,000 to share expenses for the bridge.  70% of construction was financed with a Transportation Alternative Program Grant .  The grant approved financing to:
· Replace the structurally deteriorating 4-foot wide bridge with a 14’ clear width bridge
· Increase the clear zone from the water surface to the bottom of the bridge and prevent the potential for large logs to get caught on the bridge
· Introduce a river access point for emergency first responders called to Dodge Park
· Preserve a long-term, multi-trail use and increase maneuverability by maintaining the connection to the Freedom Trail, linkage to the Macomb Orchard Trail and Michigan’s future 1,259 mile Iron Belle Trail, all of which share this single river crossing point

Davis Construction Inc. and Hubbell, Roth, and Clark (HRC) provided the design and construction oversight.
