[ARCHIVED] Link to information about proposed ban of commercial-grade fireworks in Michigan

This June, Michigan State Rep. Henry Yanez (D-Sterling Heights) introduced a package of bills to repeal the 2011 change fireworks laws.

Yanez’s bills, House Bills 4725 and 4726, would no longer allow residents to buy bigger fireworks and shoot them off in the state of Michigan.

According to WXYZ, the Yanez legislation would only allow municipalities to grant fireworks permits for outdoor pest control or agricultural purposes; for public display by municipalities, fair associations, amusement parks; or other eligible groups of individuals. It would also prohibit anyone under the age of 18 from being granted a fireworks permit. The legislation still allows the sale, possession or transfer of certain toy pistols, paper caps, sparklers and toy snakes as well as other small products.
