[ARCHIVED] City invites public to join for kick-off to yearlong 50th Anniversary Celebration Jan. 3

Sterling Heights will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018, and to kick-off the year of activities and celebrations, the public is invited to attend a celebration before and during the City Council meeting at Wednesday, Jan. 3 at City Hall.

At 6 p.m. on Jan. 3, members of the 50th Anniversary Committee will be passing out cake and selling books and apparel to commemorate the City’s 50th year. During the 7 p.m. Council meeting, the City will honor past and current Mayors, City Council members and City Managers with plaques to be hung at City Hall. During the meeting, SHTV will also unveil the first of its 50th Anniversary video series.

Co-Chairs Community Relations Director Bridget Kozlowski and Library Director Tammy Turgeon said the planning committee has been hard at work throughout 2017 to plan for the upcoming year’s celebrations. The entire list of events and all related 50th Anniversary Celebration information is available on the City’s website at www.sterling-heights.net/50years.

Along with the public, all former City Council and Mayors are invited to attend as special guests on Jan. 3. Invitations were sent to addresses the City had on file, but not all were available. Those former elected officials planning to attend should RSVP to
Community Relations Director Bridget Kozlowski (586) 446-2471 or bkoz@sterling-heights.net.
