On 07/08/18 at 4:30 AM the Sterling Heights Police Department was dispatched to 43009 Hayes (Sunshine Pharmacy) on breaking and entering alarm.
Prior to Officers making the scene they were advised by dispatch that Clinton Twp. Police Department had a breaking and entering that occurred in the same area. The alarm company advised Dispatch that there was a GPS tracker inside of the safe that was located inside of the business. The alarm company advised dispatch that the safe was indeed stolen and the location was being monitored. Dispatch relayed that information promptly to Sterling Heights Officers.
Upon doing so, Officers located a black GMC pick-up truck with no license plate, traveling S/B on Schoenherr at Clinton River Rd. The truck had a large safe in the rear bed of the pick up. As police began to pursue the truck, the safe fell out of the truck bed, and onto Schoenherr Rd. The safe was recovered a short time later by Officers. Officers from Sterling Heights who were also assisted by Officers from other jurisdictions, continued to pursue the suspect vehicle until the pursuit was terminated. The vehicle was located a short time later in the area of Rossiter and Morang in Detroit, unoccupied. The vehicle was still running and the vehicle’s ignition had been damaged, as it was discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Detroit. Inside the vehicle, Officers recovered evidence from the breaking and entering in Sterling Heights, and possibly other breaking and entering’s from nearby cities.
