[ARCHIVED] Lakeside Mall Urban Design Plan Public Open House Invite

As part of the Sterling Heights Visioning 2030 Plan, the City prepared and adopted a Master Land Use Plan in 2017.

The concern over the nationwide decline of indoor shopping malls and the desire to ensure the long-term sustainability of Lakeside Mall was a principal focus of the Master Land Use Plan.

Over the past several months, the City has been working with the current ownership of the mall, a group of stakeholders and designers with vast knowledge of the local and regional development trends, to develop a draft Urban Design Plan for Lakeside Mall. This Plan outlines a long-term vision that can be used as a roadmap to transform Lakeside into a mixed-use center that would best position the mall for continued success in the future.

The draft Urban Design Plan for Lakeside Mall will be showcased during a Public Open House, which has been scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the VELOCITY Collaboration Center located at 6633 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn about the concepts developed to this point, talk with City officials and the design team, and share your thoughts about the draft Plan. Come any time during the open house hours.
