Join the Sterling Heights Police Department and Sterling Heights Fire Department for “Sterling Winter Skate” on Saturday, Feb. 9.
At the event, officers and firefighters will be present to meet kids and families, take photos with the public as well as ice skate alongside them. Police and Fire vehicles will also be on-site for children to check out while hanging with their favorite police officer or firefighter.
While encouraging patrons to check out the new Dodge Park Ice Rink, residents will also have the opportunity to support the Guardian Angels Medical Dogs charity — an effort lead by the Grosse Pointe Board of Realtors and DC3S to raise money ($25,000) to fund “Sterling” the dog to be donated to a veteran or first responder in need. Volunteers from the organizations will be present and accepting donations at the event.
“This is an opportunity for the public to get to know their police officers and firefighters in a positive, fun environment while also having the chance to support a good cause,” said Fire Chief Chris Martin. “We hope to see great attendance at the event; if anything, it’s an excellent way to see the City’s beautiful new ice rink.”
