What is a known suspect?
A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime or the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in.

What do I do if online incident reporting is not right for me?
If your incident is an emergency, call 911. If non-emergency, call 586-446-2800.

What if this happened in another town? Can I file a report using this online police citizen reporting system?
No if a crime took place outside of the City of Sterling Heights, please call the police department of that city.

A witness is someone who actually observed the incident occur that you are trying to report.

What are the geographical boundaries of the City of Sterling Heights?
The City contains 36 square miles and is located north of 14 Mile Road, east of Dequindre, west of Hayes and south of Hall Road (M 59). Although exceptions exist due to some bordering communities (i.e., the City of Utica). You may contact the Sterling Heights Police Department at 586-446-2800 to assist you if you are still unsure.
