Come spend an evening with Michigan Department of Nature Resources Conservation Officer, Joe Deppen. Officer Deppen has a vast knowledge and is an entertaining speaker with many great stories from his experiences working as a conservation officer. Whether you aspire to become a CO or you are an outdoor enthusiast, this program is for you.
Come enjoy this great movie, followed by looking at some of our animals and making a special craft. This program is for all ages. Everyone in attendance must register. Seating and craft supplies are limited, so please register early. Reference #7000.062
Walk with Naturalist Sue as we listen to her talk about the many unique mating habits of animals who live right here in Sterling Heights. Strange, wild and interesting talks will be shared on this Valentine's Day evening walk. So lace up your walking boots, as we may be walking on a snow covered path. A cup of hot chocolate will help warm us before heading out. Please register online using reference code #7000.014
GBBC is free and open to all ages. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes or longer and report their sightings online at birdcount.org. Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 17, 2024 as we gather by the feeders to count our winter visitors and sip on warm beverages (while supplies last). This is free to all bird counters, big and small.
Nature Camp is a great place for kids who love to learn more about nature through both structured and unstructured activities. Campers will experience the excitement of science, bird watching, animal feeding, nature related games and more. Campers should bring winter clothes as we have planned some outdoor activities, a water bottle, morning and afternoon snacks and a sack lunch. Please note that the Nature Center is not a peanut-free facility as our animal food and bird feed both contains peanuts.
