Community Center Gym Rentals

We are offering rentals on Fridays only (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) – the hours are 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Subject to availability).

These rentals are designed for groups of 20 people or less (no spectators). The activities are limited to basketball, volleyball, pickleball, futsal, general athletic conditioning, etc.

Applicant MUST be a Sterling Heights resident or business with proper photo identification. Applicant MUST be present during the entire time of reservation.

Rental requests MUST be processed a minimum of 48 hours in advance and in-person only (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. excluding holidays) at the main Parks and Recreation office located at 40250 Dodge Park Road. All rentals are subject to supervisor approval prior to booking.

NOTE: A $250 security deposit will be collected for all multi-week gym rentals, and will be returned only after the Parks & Recreation Department has deemed that the gym was left in the same condition as it was prior to the function and that the group vacated the facility on time per the building use agreement. A $100 security deposit will be collected for all one-time gym rentals, and will be returned only after the Parks and Recreation Department has deemed that the gym was left in the same condition as it was prior to the function and that the group vacated the facility on time per the building use agreement.

It is the responsibility of the gym rental applicant to make sure that the participants are wearing non-marking shoes, as significant scuffing or damage to the floor will result in forfeiting the security deposit. Baseball and softball related rentals must bring their own hitting nets and use a rubber training ball, which will be provided by the Parks & Recreation Department. Use of any other ball will result in immediate termination of rental, forfeiture of the security deposit and potential restitution paid for any damage to the facility.

Community Center Room Rentals

Applicant MUST be a Sterling Heights resident or business with proper photo identification and MUST be present for entire reservation.

The Community Center has been designed to be a resource for residents and organizations within the boundaries of Sterling Heights. Reservation of the Community Center is permitted solely for recreational and other activities identified herein. The following criteria will be used to identify weekday and weekend use:

  • Weekdays: Monday - Thursday, Friday before 4:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: Friday after 4:00 p.m., Saturday-Sunday
  • Rental time includes set up, activity, and departure.
The Community Center Hours of Operation are:

Labor Day to Memorial Day:
Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Memorial Day to Labor Day:
Monday - Wednesday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Thursday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday CLOSED

The Main Office Hours for rentals are:

Private Social Gatherings

Applicant MUST be a Sterling Heights resident or business with proper photo identification and MUST be present for entire reservation.

Private parties for individuals and school sponsored groups for the purpose of wedding, showers, graduation parties, school team/club banquets, baby showers, funeral luncheons, anniversary parties, retirements parties, birthday parties and holiday parties. Availability subject to building schedule. A room host will be provided to assist with rental implementation and is included in the fee. Reservations can be made no more than six (6) months in advance of the required date.

NOTE: A $250 security deposit fee is assessed to all room rentals, and will be returned only after the Parks & Recreation Department has deemed that the room was left in the same condition as it was prior to the function and that the group vacated the facility on time per the building use agreement. The Parks and Recreation Department has identified businesses to supply food for meetings and functions if ordering. The list of approved vendors must only be used when ordering in food. Bagels, donuts, cake, ice cream, coffee (in containers), and packaged snacks and beverages are permitted without catering services.
