Donations

What to Donate

The library accepts donations of books, audiobooks, movies, music CDs, or games. Donated items should be in good to excellent condition This means no books with torn covers, out-of-shape spines or books that are worn, dirty, smelly, or dusty. Text books, encyclopedias, and magazines must be new.

How To Donate

Donations may be brought to the bookstore during its normal hours of operation. At this time, donations cannot be placed at the library's front of back entrance. In addition, for safety reasons, our staff and volunteers cannot assist patrons with bringing items into the bookstore.

Furthermore, we ask our patrons to limit the number of donations to two handheld bags or boxes. We know that many of you have been saving your items for us, and we appreciate it! We do not, however, want to have so many donations that we simply have no place to store them.

Our staff can issue a receipt for the number of hard or soft-cover books or other items donated. We do not assign a monetary value.

If you would like your item(s) to be considered for the library’s main collection, please bring the items to the checkout desk and tell a clerk to set the item(s) aside for librarian review.

Memorial Honor Book Program

Books are a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, to say thank you to someone, to extend get-well wishes, to congratulate a friend or family member on a special accomplishment, or to honor a special teacher. Books honor the memory of loved ones and serve as living tributes that enrich the community.

For a donation of $25 or more, a bookplate will be placed in an honor / memorial book and a letter sent to the person or family being honored. Other donations will be acknowledged with a letter sent to the person or family being honored.

In addition to books, other items are available for tributes such as DVDs, Books on CD, and magazine subscriptions.

If you would like to honor or memorialize a friend or family member with a gift book to the library, you may download the Memorial Honor Book Program Form or call the library at (586) 446-2640 for more information. Your contribution is tax deductible.
