A much-anticipated event celebrating the City of Sterling Heights' many cultures will take place Friday, Mar. 8, 2024. The City of Sterling Heights and its Ethnic Community Committee will hold its 2024 Cultural Exchange from 6-10 p.m. at the Sterling Heights Community Center, 40250 Dodge Park Road. The public is encouraged to attend this celebrated event.
The 2024 Cultural Exchange will feature a wide array of ethnic music and dance, educational cultural displays from area groups and organizations, and a variety of desserts, breads and dips. Cultures represented will include African-American, Albanian, Bulgarian, Chaldean, Filipino, German, Hispanic, Indian, Iraqi, Irish, Italian, Macedonian, Polish, Scottish, Slovakian, Turkish and many more. A minimum suggested donation of $1 is requested.
Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor, groups or organizations that are interested in having a table display and dance troupes and entertainment groups interested in performing are encouraged to call Community Relations at (586) 446-2470.
Registration for the 2024 Cultural Exchange will be available after Jan. 1.
"The evening is really a great chance for people of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds to celebrate their similarities more than their differences," said Carmen Williams, chairman of the Ethnic Community Committee. "We are looking forward to participation from all the different nationalities in Sterling Heights and surrounding areas."
The 11-member Sterling Heights Ethnic Community Committee was formed in 1990. Its goals include developing understanding and improving the communication among diverse races and ethnic groups in the City.
