Bricks honor family members, anniversaries and other special events
With the completion of City Center Commons, now is a good time to purchase a Brick Paver as a part of a project sponsored by the Sterling Heights Community Foundation.
For a tax-deductible donation of $100, residents can have the message of their choice etched into a Brick Paver that will be installed in and around City Center Commons, the City's award winning municipal complex on the corner of Dodge Park and Utica Road.
Anniversary dates and tributes to family members are among the messages residents can have etched into Brick Pavers. Messages are limited to 3 lines and 12 characters per line.
Approximately 200 Brick Pavers have already been installed on City Center Commons at locations such as the clock tower along Utica Road, according to Dr. Martin Brown, president of the Sterling Heights Community Foundation.
"Residents who purchase Brick Pavers are guaranteed a place in City history," said Brown. "Funding raised, meanwhile, will go toward Community Foundation projects that enhance the quality of life for residents of Sterling Heights."
All participants will be notified when their bricks will be placed into the ground.
The Sterling Heights Community Foundation was founded in 1991 with the goal of creating cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for the residents of Sterling Heights. In addition to Brick Pavers, the Foundation has sponsored projects such as picnic shelters at Dodge Park, resources for the Public Library and Sterlingfest.
To order a brick paver, mail a check or money order to the Sterling Heights Community Foundation Paver Program, City of Sterling Heights, Community Relations Department, 40555 Utica Road, P.O. Box 8009, Sterling Heights, MI 48311-8009. Please indicate the wording to be etched on your brick.
